Why We are a CDFI

As a mission driven community development corporation, we felt the duty to our communities and future borrowers to certify our model through a U.S .Treasury Community Development Financial Institution (CDFI) certification. This certification allows us to further leverage long standing banking relationships to jointly tackle the important issue of uplifting communities and providing financing to an undeserved population.

As a large CDFI, we also carry a responsibility to bridge the gap between public and private funding to make sure that the flow of capital to smaller CDFIs doing incredible work in their communities, especially as federal and state budgets tighten.

We hope to lead the industry into an a broader impact investment landscape where capital market solutions and public dollar leverage expand the transformative work CDFIs do across the country.

Our Mission

As a community development financial institution (CDFI), Capital Plus Financial provides capital to markets identified as underserved by the community. Capital Plus Financial focuses on homeownership in these underserved markets which will result in positive economic and social impact to the community. Capital Plus Financial originates first lien residential mortgages in low to moderate income communities across Texas.

Originating mortgages in these communities on homes purchased and significantly remodeled by our affiliate, CP Originations, helps enhance and sustain our ability to provide critical social services to the communities in which we live and work, positively impacting our quality of life. We believe this is part of a comprehensive solution to revitalize and grow our region.

Capital Plus Financial lends to low to moderate income documented Hispanic borrowers. Approximately 50% of our borrowers have no credit score and the majority are first time homeowners.

Why We are a B Corp

We were immediately captivated by the B-Corp movement and its purpose driven commitment to making the world a better place for future generations. The opportunity to preserve our mission, impact and improve communities, empower and promote our employees and build shareholder value is one that we embrace wholeheartedly.

We believe that profits and impact can be balanced in a responsible way that transforms the lives of the people we serve. B-Corp has given us tools to impact legislation specific to our industry but more importantly aligns us with other social entrepreneurs with whom we can collectively change the world.

We’re honored to partner with peers and stand globally to be the change we all seek.

I first would like to start off by saying my family and I are first time home buyers and the service and process was the simplest most pleasant experience. I would not have wanted to go through anybody else, from the time that we started till the day the deed was signed Cynthia and her team was there with excellent and proficient service. Now a days it is hard to find a company that make you feel like family, with such a major life changing purchase it still to this day makes us feel grateful and blessed that we had such an excellent group of people working for our dream of owning a home. I would like to say that the moving to our home is truly one of the greatest moments in our life and is a memory we can cherish every time we walk through the door.
